Hello all,

Just joined here. Been a member of car forums since my first car so I thought this was a good place to start as I am after a bit of info.

After 3 years of my beloved golf I have decided its time for a change. My golf is a mk4 GT TDI 150 running around 210-220 with a hybrid.

I'm a bit of a geek when buying cars as I like to have a proper look into them months in advance an look at all my options thoroughly (I am not planning on changing my car until mid summer!) so I thought this was my best bet to get a few answers.

So I'm looking at an s3 8p preferably in the loud orange colour or the Audi blue (not sure of its proper name but it's not dis-similar to subaru blue)

My budget is 15k give or take, dependant what i get for the golf.

Q1. what sort of mileage should I expect for that money?

Q2. Is there any 'nice' options to look out for, I have already spotted there are 2 different steering wheels and i'm rather fond of the flat bottomed one

Q3. Engine tune ability, if past experience is anything to go by VAG's are notoriously easy to tune, and theres plenty of help out there, i'm guessing the s3 engine is the same, what sort of figures would a cat back system and a remap give? and does a sports cat make for a lot of gains? as its rather pricey.

Q4. And finally, the obvious one, what are the problems I should look out for, anything like the chocolate cams of the ARL engine?

Also if anyone has any experience of these cars and what they are like to drive please let me know, as I cant get to test drive one for a few weeks as I'm rather busy!

Thanks in advance for any help

Henry
