Interior Lights / Clicking Noise in Boot??

Hi folks

Just looking for some guidance and not too sure if the problems are connected.

Firstly the interior lights have all stopped working and when you use the central locking the indicators do not flash to let you know it is activated - they both seem to be on the same fuse (no 14) which is fine.

Secondly there seems to be a clicking noise coming from a black box in the lower part of the right hand storage compartment at the side of the boot - if i pull the power lead off it it stops - not too sure what this box does but it does not effect the central locking which still works OK when the power is off this box.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated - the car is a 1999 A4 Avant Tdi (90) with just short of 200k on the clock - it is the facelift model.

The black box is the servo pump for ur central locking, there is a mulity pin plug on the top unplug this and check there is no damp in the plug socket, i had a ploblem not unlike yours i dryed it out and used wd40 this cured mine.
