View Full Version : Please Help No spark on coil 3 1.8t
Hi folks
No spark on coil number 3, no immediate suggestions from a vcds scan only points to lambda sensor which has obviously been damaged by neat petrol!
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, i had the same problem on my 1.8T a few years ago, turned out to be the ignition amplifier, its on top of the airbox below a black plastic cover, electrical connectors before and after it. Mine was main dealer part only at the time but it's worth checking around the web.
Hi Rhencullen, You're a star! used autodata to take me through the testing process, sure enough terminal 3 was dead. Also tried a mates amplifier for good measure and sure enough runs like a dream! Ordered a second hand one off our favourite auction site for £35.
Thanks Very Much!

Always good to be of assistance, i knew your problem was exactly like mine, i lost cylinder 3 coming back from cornwall, limped back home and swapped coils over thinking that was going to be the problem, but after much haed scratching and checking things with a multimeter the ignition amplifier was the culprit!
My B6 1.8T has had several coilpacks go down but i carry spares in the glovebox.
