Hi all,

Finally got around to fixing the broken odo reset stalk on the dash on my '02 GT TDi 150 this afternoon. As it turns out, very simple.

However, having put the dash back in all wired up as it was originally, it's now telling me that I've magically got an air bag fault!!

So I ran a VCDS fault code scan and got some worryingly "red" results. The exact results are listed below. I am already aware of and understand the key and auto HVAC faults but the engine, airbags and central convenience faults are new (I've deleted the results with no fault codes found):

did you switch the ign one while the dash was out? if so that explains the the fault codes, have you tried to clear them mate?

Ah yes I might well have done Phil. I haven't tried clearing them as of yet, if I clear them should that do the trick?? Cheers a lot.

Hi mate yes try and clear them and it should sort it, when the key is on the the control moduals all talk to each other, so when the cluster was disconnected it listed the code, easiest way to explain it without going in to the ins and outs, post up how the code clear goes mate

Thanks a lot for explaining that mate. Just tried clearing them all (by clicking "Clear all DTC's) after I'd done a scan, but it said that a "professional grade interface" was required for that function?? I'm using a registered version of VCDS with an approved interface (I believe!). Any thoughts? Thanks a lot.

Hmm never had that before, have you tried going in to each modual and reading the codes, then clearing them that way? that would be the next step mate

Haven't tried that mate as, to be honest with you, I've never cleared any codes to date so didn't know it could be done that way. Will give that a go when I get back from work tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

Thanks very much for your help, it's really appreciated. That's why I love this forum, so many knowledgeable members! I try to give back where I can but the learning process can be a slow one ;)

Hi Phil, thanks a lot for your advice and info mate, it worked a treat!! Just managed to clear all the codes no problem by doing each one individually in the module selector. When, if at all, will the genuine faults I've got re-register so to speak? When I run the next scan? Thanks a lot.
