Just saying hi & Vacuum pumps [oil change]

Hi All

Just joined the forum :approve:............. and a recent Audi A6 Avant 2.0 TDI LE [58 plate] owner [previously had a Passat 1.9 TDI Estate Sport]

Has anyone used a vacuum pump when undertaking an oil change? if so which pump do you use?

I have seen a few posters on here mentioning using a Pela. It might be worth doing a quick search to see what has been posted.

I have in the past but on a smart car as this was the only way to get the oil out.

The most popular is a Pela, but if you go to a boat chandlery shop you should find several makes.

TBH if you can it's best to use the drain plug. By the time you have waited to suck it all out. Also my A6 has 8.1 litres of oil in so you'd either need to empty it along the way or get a bigger model.

I use a Pela on my boat engine but only because there's no drain plug. The vacuum pump may be cleaner but it's very slow and I would use a drain plug from choice wherever possible.
