Audi A3 Towbar Potential Issue

Hi,

I am looking to get a tow bar fitted to my Audi A3. I have heard that can cause serious issues with the electrics on certain models especially the lights. It was also mentioned that a separate wiring loom was needed to ensure this doesn't happen.

I have had a quote from an independent company of £234 for the tow bar and fitting. Does anyone know anymore about this and if it can cause serious problems? Also does this price sound reasonable as I have no experience of tow bars so have nothing to base it on?

The Car is an A3 1.9 TDI SE on an 07 reg.

I am looking to buy a removeable towbar for my 2009 A3 (Facelift) and if the price isnt too bad from Audi + fitting (HA!) I will probably get it done

I read that he did cut wires, this is not something I am confident with so I will get someone with the knowledge to do it!

Failing that if anyone else has any history or knowledge of doing this please let me know. I am booked in to have this done on Fri and am wondering weather to go through with it or not!!
