Tapping sound while engine warm and idle??

Hi guys.Just noticed my 2006 2.0 tdi passat has a tapping sound.Is not there when the engine is cold but after say half to 1 hours driving becomes evident.If i raise the revs it dissapears.Still there while clutch pressed/depressed so taught it cant be a DMF but im no mechanic.Seems to be coming from the passenger side.Drives 100%.Any help greatly appreciated people.Thanks..

Have a look at the N/S suspension, could be something loose??

E.g. CV joints, arms, bushes...

It might be worth having the oil changed and flushed at the same time. Not only does the engine have tappets that could "tap" but the injectors are all part of the same area. Non of these cam related parts respond well to incorrect oil or infrequent oil changes. The dmf can give a "rocking tapping" noise and it would come from the passenger side. Noises are a pain to describe and hard to diagnose.

Just flushed the engine and changed filters and oil.Fully synth castrol long life gone in along with some valve clean but still getting the rattle after engine warm up.Iv had a failed dmf on a car before and know when the clutch is pressed the noise eases off but when i press the clutch in the b6 the rattle is still there.Not over loud but should not be there.Any more ideas guys??Thanks again.

That rattle noise indicates ur car needs a new DMF. I bought a Passat B6 before this current one and had the same rattle noise, so I got rid of it . I then had the same problem with this Passat, rattle noise from the gearbox, so I replaced the DMF and clutch and the noise was gone.

Take it to an indi I'm sure they will know what the exact problem is.

hi, sorry to but in on this, when cold from start up my car sounds a bit rough, when clutch in noise gone, release clutch and then the noise, a bit like a rattle. warm there is no noise with clutch in or out, could this be the start of my dmf on its way?

have that noise in my car to had it back with dealers cant find anything wrong doesnt happen all the time but can be annoying
