Hi guys, I still have my B6. Dont really want to get rid tbh. Had the injectors replaced FOC. Just curious anyone had any major probs with the dsg? Mine has covered around 80k. I will be keeping car for another year/ 20k.
Any help or advise?

Mine has 70k on it so far. Had a mechatronic replaced foc about 18 months ago because it was a bit like hitting a switch pulling away at juctions/roundabouts but its been great since and I will keep it for as long as I can.....Taffy

Got 3 in the family, all out of warranty so I'm hoping they last forever. I had a new mechatronic control unit in the Passat for a problem that was there from day 1 when I drove it new out of the showroom. Other than that, flawless, although all 3 are lowish miles.
There is a massive thread about DSG problems over on the Golf5 forum, posted as an offshoot from a similar thread on an Audi TT forum. The bottom line looks to be that when they first came out (on the Audi) there were massive problems and lots of wailing, hand wringing and gnashing of teeth. Also, because the consumer laws are better in the USA, VAG group ended up paying out lots of money and giving very long guarantees to our chums over the water. UK drivers were not so fortunate.
But after the initial problems, it looks like the DSG box has been pretty reliable and seems no more problematic than an old fashioned "slush box" auto. I've not noticed any complaints here on the forum other than mechatronic swaps.
One thought springs to mind though............................. The Audi multitronic box was/is fantastic but has got a bit of a bad reputation, often due to not getting the oil changed religiously at 40k, which is quite expensive. I suspect that the DSG might be equally at risk and although the oil change is a pricey trip to the dealer or a good specialist, I'll be sure that all 3 of ours get done at the specified mileage.

Thanks guys, when mine was in having the injectors changed I asked the service manager. He said they have replaced a few mechatronic uints but thats it. Mine drives fine.
Also he said make sure the gearbox oil is changed every 40k or 4yrs.
