Hi everyone,
I've been a lurker for a short while now, but thought it would be good to join the forums properly.
I'm currently driving a 1999 Golf SE TDI 90 which is a great car, although as I'm sure you know, it could use a bit more power....something that I will be dealing with shortly :biglaugh:
Its my first VW and I'm actually a fan of 90s Japanese cars, having previously owned Mitsubishis and Mazdas. I'm pretty much hooked on the solid feel of VW cars and the good respect you get from other people.
Haven't had too many problems with my Golf so far. Main problem was the MAF sensor which is a common complaint, got that sorted easily... felt like I had a new car! A few weeks ago my sunroof drains got blocked causing a water leak onto some dashboard switches below the A-pillar. Over £100 to get the switches replaced and that's non-VW parts!
The fuel consumption on my TDI is awesome, I had a V6 petrol engine in my previous Mazda which did no more than 25mpg on average. Now I easily get an average of 50mpg, quite handy when you do 500 miles per week!
Hope I can get plenty of info on this site and meet other like-minded VAG owners :D
