Hi there, I bought my A6 (2005) 3.0tdi a few weeks ago and there are already a few issues with it unfortunately. Any advice would greatly be appreciated - as you've guessed it, already had 3 refused on Warranty.
1. Handbrake malfunction yesterday, and ever since then.
2. A lot of water soaked into passenger footwell.
3. Sometimes in Park it will erratic idle for a bit until I put in drive.
4. Boot took me about 40 mins to close/latch the other day - great fun :)
5. The CD player - which I have founf out has been replaced, which ties in with Component Protection, so currently on a quest to get removed, but Audi want £90 off me before they have even hooked anything up.
Any help, greatly appreciated - mainly the water, with this weather is worrying me a bit.
Thanks
Nathan

#2, check your plenum chamber, get it sorted asap as otherwise all your lectrics will be goosed!
Do a search on plenum chamber - http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/search.php?searchid=444925
it affects loads of VAG car, A$, A6, Passat, Superb....

#5 Check here http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?257-VCDS-Users-Locations for someone from the forum in your area with vcds who can disable the component protection.
EDIT - Sorry to possibly ruin your day , but I misread your original post and somehow I thought of the ejection lock instead of Component Protection. I think (I may be wrong) Audi can only remove this unfortunately as you need some sort of security code for the car:(

Wow, cheers for the quick response guys, will get searching for plenum chamber after this - and also thanks for the link for the VCDS, that has made my day!
Bought it from a Honda garage funnily enough, was an A4 and A6 there, originally was going to get the A4, but had electrical problems, so test drove the A6 instead.
Hopefully get some of them sorted off that knowledge.
Thanks again

#4. The boot latches fail on these, I had mine replaced by Audi and its been fine ever since. The part was £32.00 + VAT and Labour.

if you bought it from a dealer a few weeks ago, get it back to them and ask them to fix the faults, I can't see them refusing if they're a reasonable dealer.

+1 on Esh's comments.....you seriously need to get back in there and argue your case my friend.
Top tip - start with the service reception, on to the service managr and so on as required. Also start your pitch easy going ( but annoyed ) and work yourway up from there!
I'd suggest a little light reading up on the conditions of sale etc before you go in so you know your rights!

normaly the a6 has no water problems ( water getting into car ) so i think they replace the front windscreen but dident close it good , ther must be a small gap where the water come in
all the electrical problems may be caused by the water

Cheers for the replies guys, and just an update. Phoned trading standards and they have opened a case for me and told me I have a case and to write a letter, also what to put in it - so I have, and I assume I will wait for them to get back to me now as I gave them a deadline under trading standards advice.
In the meantime, thursday night got home from work as car had flooded again, but this time in the driver well and rear drivers side. Under your advice and a mate who is a mechanic I took the plastic cover off that sits in between the engine bay and the window, and low and behold it was like a lagoon.
No room on drivers side to get a hand in, so went to passenger and stuck my hand into the water, fumbled around and found one of the drains, severely blocked with what felt like mud. Next I heard a gush, and the water drained!
All that remains was minute puddles about 1mm deep in the recesses, so was chuffed about that, but not that a load if electrics had been under water for god knows how long?
I rubbed my carpets, so that I would be able to see any fresh water in the morning and nothing yet :) the carpets are drying out nicely.
On tip of that garage had car to run diagnostics on hand brake, long story short they are covering in warranty, and idling they said glow plug lead was lose, but did again when got home, so still on the list I sent them under instruction from trading standards.
Hopefully hear back from them and get everything sorted now, well now it's been officially presented to them saying I'm not having this crap.
I'll let you know, but at least sorted the main one that was worrying me.
Thanks again or advice guys
Nathan
