Hi folks,

I have myself an 06 Tdi with 98k on it. On start up and for the first few minutes until warm, a White/grey smoke is produced with an oil smell. It had a new turbo and head fitted before I bought it. Took it to a local VAG guy who I've used for a while and he couldn't nail the problem without it going to cost me a fortune on labour costs. Nothing appearing on diagnostics. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Nick

It happened once at around 30k and was really scared. AD told me it was bad quality of fuel.
He advised to add some kind of fuel additives and it was gone. Never had the same again and car has now 90k.

White/grey would be condensation/unburnt fuel not oil unless you are having to top up the oil a lot.My last A4 2.5Tdi used to throw out a lot especially in cold weather so much that you could hardly use the rear mirror!Just replaced with a similar model which has recently had a belt change and retimed spoton and this hardly any smoke of any colour so I think the other one wasnt retimed 100% when its belts were done
