Hi Guys
Im looking to upgrade to an Audi A6 in the next month or so .. until i find the right model. I currently own a 99 registered Audi A4 1.9 TDi and am looking a similarly same sized engine but on a 55 or 56 plate?
Question is, what model should i go for? S line or stick to SE??
Are there any areas I should be looking out for?
Also with regards to running costs, they arent going to cheap but I guess I will be getting a better ride. Would servicing costs roughly work our to be the same as an A4?

I would get an s line. They just look that much more agressive. I have an SE and want to add th es line bits and pieces, but to be honest, its more hassle than its worth.
That being said though, my se rides beautifully, even on 19"s. The s lines I have driven have been really harsh to drive.
Servicing wise, cant see why they would be more than the equivalent A4. The workshop lists most of the standard repairs as the same time units between a4/a6 so no difference in labour costs for most things.

I went for an SE as I do many miles and felt the S-Line was a bit too harsh for me.
One tip - try and get one with as many of the options that you want, some of the retrofits are very expensive and not that straightforward.
Servicing costs would depend on the engine you go for and the mileage/maintenance history. The 2.0TDI has a timing belt which needs replacement, the 2.7TDI and 3.0TDI are chain driven.
Good luck,

I would leave the c6 models alone and go for a c5 final edition 1.9 PD tdi 130Bhp ! Much, much stronger than the later model ! The 2.0 Tdi is nothing but trouble...and the platform is fitted has a lot of issues. Just my honest advice, VAG didn't make good cars after 2004...

If you are going to get the c6 i would go for the one with the later model, possibly 07 as the earlier 2.0tdi engines had problems with balancer shaft on oil pumps which could be very expensive. Anyways SE is more comfortable to drive than the s line so bear that in mind. Make sure the service history is good and as getaway_driver mentioned try to get the one with as many options as possible....happy days.
Hope this will help you.

Thanks for the posts guys. There is still apart of me that thinks the A6 is a little big but what i will be getting will be well worth it. I thinkI will go for an S-Line cos of the options available. O7 models are a little pricey but I see what you mean about the engines being more refined. I'll see what I can find.
Thanks again guys :o)

I have the SE in C6 form myself.....absolutely love the look of the Sline, looks so much sleeker, meaner, more aggressive. I've had more than a few as courtesy cars from my dealer and yeah they feel / look good, but, IMO as stated before my SE even on 19" rims with 35 profile tyres rides smooth as silk.
As much as I love the Sline looks my back and insides just couldn't take that much punishment.....Its how I know I'm getting older, rewind 10-15 years and it would never even have been a consideration.....lol
+1 on the 07+ YOM
