Dab retrofit help

Hi
Just retrofit genuine audi dab radio using wiring kit from kufatec put a new aerial module on c piller and recoded can gateway to tell car dab is fitted although it all works the sound quality is well crap. Is there any one else out there that has done this mod tell me is there anything else i sould be recoding to get the near cd quality sound i should be getting ?

post your vcds long code changes, as you don't list your equipment then you need to post address 56 etc

Thanks for the fast response. the car is a 2009 a4 with mmi high 2g what i changed is 19 can gateway ,instalation list and checked 0F for dab thats all i have done.

try to establish your signal strength from the above and you really need to check for code changes as I;m sure you need to tell address 56 you have dab and the tuner for diversity also possible sound system needs to be encoded as well but not sure

you may find your stick on aerial is a waste of time and depending on if model avant or saloon you could well need to fit the correct aerial glass and sort out the diversity amp plus encode the vehicle correctly.Kufatec suck *** with there kits and looms

I'v checked address 56 and theres no option to tell radio tuner dab is installed same also for the sound system, i have upgraded the aerial mosule to accept the aerial wire from the dab reciever and the car is fitted with the correct rear screen with the dab aerials installed.

this is what i needed according to audi and bought, black one dab.
its conected to the rear screen with the right lead.

you need two amps, you have fitted r111 which goes direct to your dab unit and also you will have r112 the info i'm using is of course not vin specific so could be wrong and that is connected via the purple connection between r111 and r112 so your system is connected correctly and therefore either the rear window is at fault or the sw versions need flashing amongst other possible issues like the dab unit or poor connections but as the reception seems ok thats as good as its going to get unless you upgrade the sound system/amp

If dab drops out then the diversity will retune to fm if configured

the black connection is the dab and the purple is fm3 and goes to r112

General system description, digital radio (DAB) tuner

The digital radio -R147 (DAB tuner) permits reception of DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) signals which can contain a range of data such as sound, text, images or software. Digital correction techniques can be used to reconstruct signals where reception is poor. The terrestrial frequency band is 174 - 240 MHz (Band III) and 1452 - 1492 MHz (L-Band). The digital radio operates with two aerials. Nationwide programs are broadcast in band III and via TV aerial. Local and regional programs on the L band are received via the DAB aerial.
The digital radio is a station on the MOST infotainment data bus (optical bus).

I would suggest running the last software update for mmi 2g to make sure all the control units are at the latest versions as well

if you go to address 56 look at measured value blocks 4,5&6 this will show aerial status as well as looking at the dab aerials as your findings may hint at a poor reception but you do not mention dab dropping out

Thanks for your time on this, i will check address 56 for aerial status and post the finding. I'm hoping its just a sw update that is needed and ask is the update a dealer thing or is it possable to do on your own ? The dab has dropped out once and this was because i was in a rual part of doncaster then fm kicked in other the sound issue it working ok.

so the diversity is working spot on, ask the dealer to run the mmi update but it may wipe your code changes so just record them and re enter them
