Yes but the issue was for ice forming in the intake system after extreme cold snaps last year and over the journey the water melted and hydraulic the engine bending the crank shaft on number 4 cylinder.
The repair included a modified intake pipe and software update plus engine
In your case I suggest you contact your car insurance as they may well cover this as I have replaced engines after water induction before and they were covered under the insurance although it takes ages to get authority.
Good luck

Only one Q7 as mentioned but this kind of problem can occur but not often and mainly when a large volume of water is forced into the inlet and hence this may well be covered by the insurance for accidental damage or something similar.

Say you had no option but to drive through a deep puddle at speed would this be accidental? or you drove it into a lake then that's your fault if you did this in the knowledge you would damage the engine

If events have unfolded that damaged the engine un be known to you then I would argue your not responsible as you would then have to argue that you can not drive your car in heavy rain for fear of failure, and as the intake is designed to prevent such events and only a large sudden volume of water could cause then its unlikely that rain fall alone would cause this and more like standing water

If you seek advise try to get a credited inspection to strengthen your case who could represent you in the small claims court if needed

Record the weather average speed and journey when the event occurred and any traffic information or average rainfall to build a case against what looks like a rejection

The more info you can present then the harder it is to contest or prove beyond doubt who's is to blame or exactly how the failure occurred

I am no solicitor but have dealt with plenty of rejected extended warranty claims and found the more you question there rejection the more likely you are to find a flaw in there judgement

As I said it takes time and as the repair is so costly then they will fight it the more hence get a credible advisor who can present a court case

Try this man he is very good as you need someone who knows and liaises with insurance/warranty companies leecookson@automotiveforenicservices.co.uk

Buy a cheap run around and then start your fight and get proper advise as I might be talking cobblers

Good luck

If I recall, the pipe from the inter cooler had to much of a bend and ice formed in the pipe which melted after a journey and was drawn into the engine

I have no document to back this up but that's what we found and it matched the owners description and ambient temperature

The pipe if I recall was noticeable different and modified for more recent builds

I have never heard of any other Q7 that matches your journey details but my friends mark 4 golf gtdi did the same on the m6 some years ago which the insurance paid out on the repair but it took 6 months of hassle
