Hi,

I've gone through a number of searches on here and couldn't find the answer I was looking for...

I'm looking at a few 3.0TDi avant Le Mans at the moment, apart from few minor external bodywork differences, what are the real differences in the engine between the 06/07 3.0TDi and the post facelift 08 3.0TDi?

- bhp and torque up to 233->240bhp and 450->500Nm
- fuel economy up
- tax down
- are there any real noticeable differences?

Is it really worth holding out for a facelift version, there seems to be a few 06/07 Le Mans avants on the used market, but not post 08.

Any advice/guidance appreciated

Not sure about the engine, but the Satnav on 2009 models onwards is 3G.

More power with better economy and lower tax is a pretty good start. You also get revised LED rear lights that don't, as as far as I am aware, fill up with condensation and burn out their earth connection. There may be other common faults that have been fixed; almost certainly the swirl flaps linkage has been fixed, and the rear wash-wipe connections may have been beefed up to reduce the chances of leaks destroying the electronics.

The MMI is better, but the downside is that you'll have to get a dealer to update the satnav maps.

The 2008's are only just reaching the 3 year old mark, which is why there are probably not so many available second hand, yet.

What is the price difference?

Haven't really seen any 08/09's around, but I just brought a relatively low mileage 07 3.0tdi yesterday that hit much of the mark that I've been looking for.

Cheers

Which I expect will be terrific! Do watch out for the rear wash-wipe pipe leakage though.
