Warning lights and brake light problems

My dashboard is blinking like a christmas tree. Engine coil light flashing amber (engine management?), ABS light coming on amber, and amber triangle exlamation mark light on. This is sporadic and not permanent. I've since noticed that the brake lights seem to be working erratically.
Any solutions?
Its a 2004 1.9tdi quattro avant

Correct Kite. It was the brake switch. Got one from TPS for £9.30 and the lads in the college automotive school fitted it as part of their course work. Nice cheap job which suprised me for Audi.

This happened to me too... frightened the life outta me!

God knows why they don't display a brake related warning in the DIS instead of the engine management light!
