I thought i had a fantastic deal today.
A friend of mine has a Mk6 Golf, she has the 18" RS6 Alloys on it, The MOT test centre told her that her wheels are too big for her car and could be a problem for her.

She knows i want the RS6 wheels on my car so asked if i wanted to do a straight swap for my standard 16 Inch rims.
Of course i jumped at the chance (to save myself £500 :D ) i went round this afternoon to swap them over but the Nuts didn't line up!!!!!!!! Gutted!!!!:zx11::zx11:
on inspection my rims are 7J (2001 A4 1.8T) and hers 8J, I thought that the Golf and A4 had the same Hubs, Are mine correct? i thought mine should have been 8J too.

Hi, the 7J and 8J means the width of the rim in inches i.e 7 inches wide and 8 inches wide, the offset is more important as this will determine the amount the wheel sticks in / out from the arches.

The PCD (pitch circle diameter) is whats causing you a problem, the Audi A4 use a 5 stud pattern on (i think) 112mm PCD. I assume the golf must be on a 110 pcd, some one will probably clarify this. Audi A3 rims will fit but check the offset as they run narrower tyres (225 instead of the A4 235).

Why don't you buy a set of wheel spacers? That should do the trick.

Zeb you would have to buy like 25-30mm spacers which also change the stud pattern as the a4's have 5x112.5mm pcd and golf's/old a3's are 5x100 iirc. the offset is about the same on most vag stuff so you would have a silly offset with 25mm spacers on those rs6 style 18's.
