Hello All
Just wondering if any 2.4 owners out there would like to share there thoughts on the 2.4 reliability,i have been offered a 2.4 se which is mint but it has 130k on the clock!
Whats the max mileage for the 2.4 engine before you start having problems and what are the issues to look out for??????

Thanks

Hello.

Not sure how much this will help but I've just upgraded from a 51 plate A6 which had 174k on the clock.
Over the past 3 years all it had was a new clutch master cylinder, two new CV boots and a cat on the drivers side.

Not that relevant I know but what might be us that the engine and gearbox (manual) were perfect. It never failed to start, still pulled ok and didn't burn to much oil, maybe 3/4 litre every 1000 miles or so.

Not sure if it's the same engine in the newer A6.

My 2004 new shape 2.4L SE petrol has just clocked up 110,000 and is running as sweet as a nut - had it from virtually new a few minor niggles but no problems with the engine......

I'm on my second 2.4. First was an 2001 C5 2.4SE multitronic and that did 160,000. I liked that one so much I've got another 2006 2.4SE Multitronic (C6 Shape). Love the engine/gearbox combo. I only changed the first one because I wanted the new shape.
