Audi A4 1.9TDI QUATTRO AVANT. My 2004 has developed a really annoying yet scary noise from 65mph onwards. It sounds metallic and speed related, as though something is catching in the wind and vibrating on something else. As speed increases or decreases the noise changes pitch, then totally disappears below around 65mph. It sound like a heatshield or similar thin metal vibrating on the drive shaft or wheel maybe. Its difficult to pinpoint as it transmits throughout the car. I've also noticed that it makes a slight similar noise when dropping down the gears but not going up the box. Its a manual gearbox. Ive had a quick peek under the bonnet and under the car and cant see anything obvious loose. Anyone had the same problem??
