Hi all, been having a good nosey as once my Passat's T-Belt is done, think it's time for a remap to make use of my lovely well-looked after diesel.
My question is, what is the maximum power and torque that can be had from an otherwise stock 1.9TDI 105BHP/185ft/lb B6?
or what is the maximum safe power level. I like the way my car gives a good strong push from 2000rpm upwards, and another stronger push from 2800rpm up towards 4000rpm.
I have looked on lots of forums and general consensus seems to be all over the place in terms of these levels, going anywhere from 135bhp for a "safe" map, to people who have had 169bhp out of a standard engine! Its all so confusing! :-?
I will be replacing the clutch and flywheel some time in the next few months after I've got over the T-belt cash dump, and she should be fit and healthy then.
I want to have a blisteringly quick car... But don't want to ruin it. If there are any supporting mods that make extra power easier on the car let me know.

135>140 ish generally accepted as good power/reliability map compromise on these. Let me know how you get on. What miles is on yours?

Just ticked over 70,000 miles this week.
Unsure if I should get it done on a holiday to the UK...
Only one real guy to map the TDIs here and he's a day's drive away...

Sam, there's no way the PD 105 will go to 169 Bhp as it has a tiny turbo, tiny nozzles and weaker rods compared to the pd 130/150. You will need to adress them first in order to get a healthy gain but i would say that around 130 Bhp mark is where a good, safe map should take-it. The pd 130 has trouble getting to 170Bhp on stock nozzles and turbo and the turbo spikes so bad that it often damages clutches and flywheels.
Also folks use PD 150 ARL engine head bolts to stop the head from lifting- a result of the boost spikes. To get 200 Bhp reliable you would need to replace the rods with aftermarket forged ones, lower the CR and get larger Bosio/Titan/DSS Ultime/Niktane nozzles then aGTB1759Vk or GTB2260Vk turbo kit and have a very good custom map done at the same time.
Whilst the engine is in pieces then a block girdle is also advisable as it keeps the crank and engine from twisting out of shape. Next would be a aftermarket clutch kit (Sachs SRE is highly rated) and a limited slip diff to put all that power on the ground. All these mods will be upward of 5k and will make the car reliable allthough it's going to be allways on the edge !
