AUDI A5 WHEELS 18", GOOD CONDITION TYRE SIZE 255/40 ZR18 (ET24 8.5J X 18 H2)

I have the original S-Line wheels that are 245/40/18. Will these A5 wheels fit?

My Audi is the C5 face lift (02-05)

It's currently fitted with these

Front & Rear alloy wheels: 18x8" ET43. So I guess that I'm correct in assuming that my current wheels are 1/2 inch narrower than the A5 wheels. Will that make a difference? What should I pay to have a new set of wheels fitted and balanced?

Does the ET number refer to the wheel offset? There would be quiet a difference between the 43 and 24 offsets I guess?

ET = offset

The inner edge of the new wheel will sit 12mm further away from the strut.

The outer edge of the new wheel will protrude a further 24mm

As long as the wheel/tyre sits underneath the arch, they'll fit.

That makes sense - so they probably wouldn't work very well then?

As long as they don't stick out too far, I don't see why not.

If you like the wheels enough to look at the replica route, you could probably find some in the right specs.

A guy on eBay sent me this useful link

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=245&aspect=40&diameter=18&wheelwidth=8&offset=43&width2=255&aspect2=40&diameter2=18&wheelwidth2=8.5&offset2=24&Submit=Submit

Quite a useful tool. Looks like they might stick out too far - which wasn't quite the look I was going for. Guess that's why they are going quite cheap on Ebay?

They will not fit properly.

Be aware that the hub width on the A5 is bigger than the A6, so although the bolt pattern is the same, they will not sit on the hub snuggly. This is of course dangerous. I think the hub size changed from 55.2mm odd to 62mm with the A5.

The good news is that there are inserts that you can put in the wheels to take them up to the right hub width. They cost about £20. Search ebay for audi hub adapters and you will see what you need.

I ultimately decided to buy some S5 rim replicas that had the right hub size form the factory.

Hope this help.
