The engine management warning light would come on and the car would have no power would shudder and even have to stop the vehicle for a few minutes or longer. Restart the car and it would run fine. Car serviced and new plugs fitted same problem. Data from the obc would show a faulty injector a missfire on the same cylinder and also oxygen sensor problems. At the time of the MOT this brought matters to ahead as one minute the emmissions were ok and the next all over the place. Over a period of time the ideas running through my brain were faulty fuel (Tesco Asda etc) This car has always run on Shell or BP. Faulty coil but no-one had any for two weeks not even GSF. Eventually bought a coil and fitted it and carried out a road test to find it failed within 5 minutes. Decided to carry out a full investigation. Removed plugs and they looked ok. I then swapped round the coils ( The new one was on cyl 3 where the problem was ) So 3 went to 2 2 to 1 and 1 to 3. Removed the injectors and ureka I found the problem. One of the seals on injector 3 was pinched and guess what no one had any so I swapped the seals over from one end of the injector to the other. The injector rail end is where the seal has to go inside to fit it so with a little lubrication of engine oil the injector was refitted this time 3 to 1 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. This sequence was used to see if a fault showed up we could narrow it down to a single cylinder. The Engine management light was turned off and reset. For the last month there have been no problems. Good job I have a mate who was interested enough to reset the E M L for nothing. Car has done about 2000 miles with no problems including 150 mile runs.
