Evening all, how are we?

Wondering if I could pick a few brains out there....Whilst driving my '04 A4 2.0 FSi SE (Mileage 117,000!!) along a motorway doing 70/75 in 5th the EPC light came on and the car decellarated quickly (I presume going into limp mode) I moved into the slow lane and performed a 'rolling restart' which cleared the fault but it returned several times during my journey at different speeds and at one point the fault 'locked in' and I couldn't restart the car (at a set of lights!!)

Anyway I got the RAC out and the guy reset the codes and sent me packing, the following day the same thing happened several times in a row (clearing themselves each time) sitting at about 40mph. RAC out again! Reset codes and said that was all they could do. Anyway my journey home was uneventful (I drove very defensively and didn't take the engine above 3000rpm) until i reached the hill leading to my road where i accelerated, slow and steady, to about 3500-4000rpm where the light came back on, it cleared immediately after this and hasn't come back on since, took it to my local garage as the blokes pretty good but he can't says the faults are intermittent and theres not a lot he can do without a hard fault.

Fault codes are as follows:

1st time. Fuel Pressure, cylinder misfires, EGR, Air Flow

2nd time. Fuel Pressure

3rd time. Code No 17428 Fuel Pressure regulation control range exceeded-No
plausible signal-Intermittent

Code No 16805 Warm Up catalyst bank 1 Efficiency below threshold P0421-Upper limit reached-Intermittent

Code No 16698 Misfire(s) detected single (unspecified) Cylinder P0314- Upper Limit reached-Intermittent.

I recently had the offside front CV joint replaced and put a tank of 98 RON unleaded in it rather than the 95 I usually use although I can't see either of those making a difference.

I'm thinking its only happening on upper acceleration but I'm nowhere near 'flooring it' or sustained high speed driving. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

sounds like the fuel pressure regulator fitted a couple but not on 2.0 tsi

Could be the in tank lift pump, a known FSI system weakness.

Cheers both! I'm thinking something fuelly too as when the fuel tank is almost empty the car struggles to start (like having your choke in on a cold day for those that can remember!) Anyway I've bitten the bullet and booked it in with Audi as I now need it sooner than I thought-Fingers crossed!

Great shout crasher! The gauze across the Inlet pipe had clogged and the pump was running dry.....Audi want £388 to replace it! Love the cars but hate the prices! Thanks all for the replies
