I had to change a wheel yesterday due to the tyre being rather more worn than I'm happy with. My car has specially shaped rubber/plastic parts under the sill to take the jack. But it only seems to have them at the rear. Should there be some at the front too?

No. If you look at the sills, there is a little triangle pressed into them (look carefully). Thats the part of the sill that is reccomended as a jacking point.

x2 on Josh's reply. there's points where it should be jacked at.

On my old Mondeo I placed the jack in the wrong place and ended up piercing a jack sized hole through the floor! It was going to scrap anyways so didn't matter.

I couldn't spot the triangles no matter how hard I looked. At the rear there are definite plastic/rubber jacking points - do your cars have these? And if they do, do they have them at the front as well? My (Audi) jack has a barrel shape that contacts the car when jacking; the jacking point at the rear has a perfectly matching place for the barrel but there isn't one at the front on either side. Would some pictures help?

I have had a look at mine and honestly could not make heads or tails of it. If you do put some pictures on it might help. I will double check during proper daylight as it is getting a lil dark here to spot anything now.

I had them jacking points on my 57 plate on all four corners of the sills. I have just checked on my 11 plate and that has them on all four corners aswell. Hope that helps

I'll try and take some pictures tomorrow on my 57 plate. The car is extremely dirty atm so Ill sort it out before taking them.

X2.. though it is covered in the handbook

I read the handbook before starting. That showed me roughly where the 'triangles' indicating the jacking points ought to be. But I couldn't see them. Anyway, the rear jacking points are obvious, on my car. But it looks to me as though the front ones are not there, or at least the plastic/rubber bits are not present.

Let's see if some pictures would help... (numpty picture linking skills coming up!)

looks like to me that they should be there but have either come off or been taken off at some point

oh, now I see what you mean. Mine does not have those on the front. TBH, I had never looked until now as I always use a trolley jack

Right then, your front plastic jacking points are definitely taken off as mine is a 07 2.0 tdi se and it has these plastic bits both on front and rear. check it with the dealers...may not be expensive at all...or could cost u an arm n a leg. depends how much you bothered with its absence.

And the answer is... that they are indeed missing from the front of my car. According to the dealer it will cost £90 to refit them. Quite where they went I have no idea.

Dunno dude, £90 is a bit steep for a bit of plastic methinks. Anyhow i'd recommend you to search for a salvage A6 and get the ones from that, Dont think it would be something thats very sought after so any scrapped A6 would guarantee to have these available and with a bit of luck should be a shade under a tenner i suppose.

As far as where it went? Hmmm not been doing u turns on dual carriageways or jumping kerbs. Must have been caught on a kerb or something.

£90 includes fitting.

I haven't done anything to lose them, but who knows what the previous owner did!

Hi, my front near side is missing also - currently looking around the breakers (might have found the rubber part, but looking at the part listing - 4f0802845 'jack front' , plus there is ,amplifier for jack front - 4f0803475a 'this is the left front part' , now is is a mounting bracket of some sort - or does the rubber part just push into the body - any one know?

I've got the car in the dealer on Friday 'mot' , so will ask the - but don't hold your breath - as they still cannot supply the fixing nuts for the rear offside under tray 'the one before the rear wheel' - given me four different items so far - nothing fits (sorry rant over)

I'll update on results from breakers, sent enquire email today

Found stock of both rubber jacking points - direct from the manufactures - Bad news - min quantity 200, they have a picture top and bottom - ther are raised bungs to fit the holes in the body.

Cannot find a good pic of the amplifier for jack - now I'm hoping that this is somehow secured inside the sill (that it cannot be lost) updates to follow
