Okay so this A6 has been driven for about 300 000km+ and so far its engine has been with out problems when i have been driving it.

Just today when i was starting it up i moved the steering wheel and it clicked and at the same time locked the ignition.i somehow managed to get past the lock and started to start up the car. first time it didnt start properly so tried again and it started.

After driving a while i noticed that the revs would jump between 1000 and 1500 whenever i would engage the clutch in slow speeds or when stopped. Whenever i change gears at a higher speed the revs instantly shoot up when i press the clutch even though my foot is completely off the gas pedal. Also after just starting up the engine idles normally but then starts to rise and idle at like 1600 rpm,

Secondly when driving normally(cruising) theres a weird twitch whenever the gas peldal is iven slightly pressed. When taking the foot off the gas pedal it stays on for a while then jerks and then the throttle cuts off.

Could this also be a lose throttle closing spring or something else wrong with the throttle system?

Anyone have any idea what could cause this? and how to fix this.

Start with a fault code read, I suspect you have a faulty idle control valve. I presume your engine code is ABC and if so these are quite difficult engines to set up, it requires the knowledge and the gear to do it.

how do i do that fault code read?...got no idea as im only 18 xD and yes i think it is a ABC.

but would the idle control also effect when changing gear as it jumps a little when i take my foot off the gaspedal and change gears.

On another note i just went to start up the car and it idles normally, the problems only start when i take it to the road. the throttle doesnt stay on when i rev a little after starting and it would seem to be working normally until i hit the road.

You need a fault code reading device or if you own a lap top PC, a copy of VCDS but the Lite version of VCDS will not really be of enough use to you, you will need the full version.
