Years back I owned an Accord, and whenever you pulled panels out you found wiring harness that had blanks (Green Plastic covers) for electric optios that I did not have, such as eletric mirrors etc. Such that when I did salvage electric mirror plus the switch..voila! it worked. I want to salvage an auto dimming rearview mirror and garage opener. Will that be possible? Please help.

That would probably be the good ole days when there was te possibility for you to add these options yourself. these days the car makers want you to go back to them to add on any options later. I wanted to add electric leather seats but turned out that the cars wiring loom would need changing or adjusting to accomodate any extra stuff. Any accomplished auto electrician should be able to do it easily but I aint touchin it.

For car makers its reducing their cost of material used as well as potential money earner option for future. Sorry to have broken the bad news to you. Although check with your locl specialists as I will be doing this as well as I dont really trust the guy who told me all this at Audi.

Similar to what the other poster said. Your car will only ship with enough loom for the options you have specified. You might get luck here and there with a connector for the odd light or mirror...but generally not.

Having looked at what you are asking for, you shoudl try Gentex. They do a combined mirror and garage door opener that can be retrofitted.

Funnily enough, Gentex actually supply Audi with their dimming mirrors and Homelink systems.

Thx joshA6...I called Gentex (Mito) and they even hooked me up with an installer here in MN.
Awesome!

brilliant. only realised you were in the US after seeing your reply. Gentex installers are a bit thin on the ground in the UK
