Hi I have an issue with the car when its warm, it starts from cold fine. But if I go to get fuel etc and then restart it, it takes a while to start.
I have taken it to the garage they changed my glow plugs, cleaned my solanoid manifold???contacts, but still no change. It also is lumpy on tick over when warmed up.
It is going to be plugged in on tues just wondered if anyone had any ideas what it could be.
Thanks

Starter motor - common problem ! Probably won't show on diagnostic scan.

i'll put my money on a faulty temp sender, but enough of the guessing,
yes, a code read would be the best place to start

Would it be worth trying taking the temp sensor off when warm and seeing if it starts then? Is that fairly easy to do then I can eliminate one problem. Also when its at my place of work and in full sun all day she takes a while too start then.

don't disconnect anything until you have had the codes read, you will cause codes to
show up when the mechanic is trying to read it.this may cause him to change a sender that perhaps is ok.
also,if a sender is at fault it should be replaced by a working sender, otherwise the ecu will pick up NO signal from it and may only complicate tracing the fault,

Thanks for your help. On leaving for work today at 5.30am went to car and not the instant start, but then last week on two occasions I turned her and nothing. So now I have starter motor in my head.

when you say you "turned her", did it crank?
you say you have lumpy idle when warm--a starter motor couldn't cause that...
i'd get it read and save yourself a lot of time,

stewy.

No it didn't crank it was like a flat spot, she is lumpy when warm, when she's in the sun it doesn't the same takes a while to start.
When she doesn't start there's a big jolt from the engine.
She is going to be plugged in on Tuesday.
Thanks for your help

This could be the main relay, which when faulty can lead to warm start problems and a lumpy idle. The diagnostic will come up with several different things wrong, mostly relating to egr, fuel pump etc, but it WILL be the main relay if this is the case. If not it will pinpoint one problem like temp sender.
Let us know what it was. Good luck.

We have found the problem at last and it is all fixed. Called at garage to get puncture fixed and our mechanic got in it and started her tols us to book it in and he would eliminate problems. My partner went to move it and no joy flat wouldnt do a thing luckily mechanic was right there, he ordered a new battery and hey presto it's great has a new lease of life and goes so well. Can't believe it has been in garage twice and this was never checked.
We had advice to change the cooling module fan as it was not working well, could this have been underpowered due to the battery being so low????
Thanks for all your advice.
