What is correct offset ET for Allroad

Hello, I have bought an Allroad 11/2006 type 4F 3.0 tdi. Great car but hideous wheels and I have to replace them. Trying to buy replacements there seems to be some uncertainty about the correct ET offset. I want to keep the same size wheels and tyres which are 245 x 45 x 18. One supplier says 35 to 45 is OK but another says their ET 42 are not correct. I have found some ET 40 wheels I like but the manufacturer (Dezent) has flagged the ET and will not accept returns if they are wrong. Does it matter if they are 7.5J or 8J? Sage advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi Michael,

For 8Jx18, I think they need to be offset ET40 or ET38.

The best way to be sure is to remove one of your current wheels and it will be stamped on the back (or look at the spare in the boot if you have a full size alloy spare wheel).

For 18s @ 8J usually ET35 (could be 30 also)
For 18s @ 8,5J usually ET30 (could be 35 also)

I don't think 18s @ 7,5J is permitted/advised/available for the Allroad.

Hi.

I have on mine for summer 8Jx18 ET 40, for winter 7,5Jx17 ET34, all are Audi wheels and have just been looking at some 8Jx19 ET39 which are also approved and look pretty nice too.

Thank you for your quick reply, The wheels I want are Dezent M five spoke supplied only 5 x 112, 8J, ET40, Dezent flagged the size as questionable I don't know why seeing as you are using the same sizer

If they will fit and not cause any inerference with the calipers or bodywork, I think I will go with them, were your original wheels 8j 18" ET 40?

Sorry for the late reply. They were fitted as an "optional extra" when the car was new from the main dealer, so appear on it's specification list.

Hello Atomic, Very interesting guide but surprisingly it says for 8J x 18" wheels minimum ET30 and maximum ET35 where in fact the factory fitted Ronal wheels are actually ET38.

Some of the wheel retailers are happy to recommend ET 40 or even ET42 for 8J which I think may well inerfere with the calipers.

I am looking to buy some ET35 but it really restricts the options.
