Hi all,
The A4 has now done 73,000 miles, and I must say its been the best car I have ever owned.Always had it serviced every 10k , never uses any oil now Ive taken it off long life service.
Last service I was advised to have all disks and pads replaced ASAP. Years ago I had bad experiance with new disks as they never seemed as good as the original.
If I get audi specialist to replace all disks and pads would they use oem parts or would they use equivalent parts ??? I was quoted £390 plus vat.
OR
Would you only trust Audi main dealer to fit genuine parts ??
Thanx

Get genuine and quote the affordable servicing, which is on Audi's website so you should be able to save some money.

If I remember corectlly I paid 180£ for front pads and discs(parts only) at the main dealer.the rear pads and discs are another 120£ from Audi.about 300£ in total for parts alone so 399£ for parts and fitting sounds about right.and I wouldn't put anything else but o.e.m ones on the car.Looking on audi's website I see they charge 249£ for discs and pads, front or rear.so 500£ for the hole car.

Genuine Audi - £500 all in.
EBC Grooved + Redstuff Pads - £390 parts only.
I opted for the EBC.

I bought aftermarket pads recently and a family friend who's a mechanic fitted them for £40.
Bought pads for all 4 wheels for around £65.
My discs were fine.
Just ordered these.

Hi all
Thanx for all the advice , gonna go for the original Audi disks and pads , the difference between genuine audi parts and after market parts is
about £60 , no brainer in my opinion .

Hi
Aceparts are doing great prices on BOSCH discs and pads all round at the moment on E-Bay.
I believe Bosch is OEM and have read somewhere (dont quote me) that they make brake discs for VAG and then VAG re-package them and sell them and rip us all off!

..and no doubt you heard that from the guy selling you the parts.
Bosch make a lot of brake parts for Audis, but i'm not aware of pads or discs being made by them.
In fact looking at page 6 of this VW brake test PDF, Bosch don't even make the pads themselves. They're made by TMD friction (who also supply Pagid and Textar)

Not quite the same are they?

Just a update , had genuine Audi discs and pads fitted , and they feel very sharp now when braking , took about 300 miles to bed in , no sqeeks , rattles or vibration under braking. Well pleased
