i need to replace the stalk for my cruise control and was wondering is it a simple matter of taking out the old and replacing with the new one or will i still have to update the software via VAG-COM.. i have read the stickys on retro fitting cruise control etc , but this is just a direct swap of new for faulty stalk?
thanks...

Hi rapid, it should be a straight swap, you will still have to remove the steering wheel and other associated stuff in order to get to the screws keeping the stalk on the module, but no coding will be required.
Note: when you reconnect the battery the ABS/ESP light will go on which will sort itself out when driving around a bit (its trying to calibrate the position of the steering wheel in relation to the road wheels). It will eventually go out.
