Presuming the A4 will get same 3.00tdi 204ps engine to replace the 2.7tdi then the drop in co2 is from 190 to 138 ..not bad for a big engine ! The 240ps engine drops to 149

The 240ps engine drops to 149 in ayto form

In theory mine is 179g/km, in practice spritmonitor calculates it at 230g/km, don't tell the taxman!

the whole C02 and quoted mpg figures is a complete con as they are pretty much only achievable on the rolling road.

yup - i reckon thats the only reason they do it. Hybrids particularly annoy me as its clear its only done for tax reasons and in everyday driving they are worse than the equivalent diesel model. It just strikes me manufacturers are not particularly moving the game on and are just playing with numbers.

I had a new shape A6 2.0 TDI that is meant to do 55-60mpg for a week and it averaged 42 mpg

Agreed fuel consumption bears no relation to eu "official" figures. But I have noticed I am getting better mpg figures since an engine software upgrade at last service.

Better mpg numbers on the DIS, or actually more miles between fill-ups?

Cynical ... me?

Between fill ups ! About 3 mpg I believe but may be down to other factors so will continue to monitor over more miles. But was told by service bloke I may see an improvement
