Hey guys i was wondering if anyone can help me...

I had my car intermittently losing power, so I did some research on the forum and suspected the injectors to be faulty so i booked the car in and also contacted AUDI UK to qualify for the free replacement.

The car went into the dealers and I was told that no fault was found with the injectors and AUDI UK had authorised replacement injectors as a gesture of goodwill, soon after they had fitted these I recieved a phone call telling me I needed a new turbo....

I asked for the reasons and was told this was due to the sticky vanes, i specifically asked the dealers if this would resolve the problem and was told yes it would. I asked what if it didn't and i was told that Audi would take full responsibility.

I got the car back and within 2 days the car had faulted again with the flashing coil light and loss off power.

The car has been back to the dealers and the problem still has not been rectified.

The latest time it has been into the dealers they have changed the Turbo Solenoid Valve and now the air conditioning does not work and I still get the same fault....

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Hi.
I've had EXACTLY the same issue.
Even to the extent of having my injectors changed by AUDI and them telling me I need a new turbo. I didn't believe for a minute that I needed a new turbo and got it booked into my highly trusted Indepenent. It took them about 3 hours to ring me and tell me it was sorted. Boy was it sorted. It was like a rocket. I'd never felt it like that, and I haven't had any hesitation of coil light and limp mode since.
Anyway, here's a link to my post at the time. you'll have to go to the end to see my post regarding the cause.
Hope it helps.

Hi,

I had a simialr issue where the Coil Light would start to flash and the engine would go into Limp Mode.
Does the light clear itself and the car start to drive normally if you switch the engine off and start it up again after a minute or two?

If yes, then its exactly the same as mine.
I drove my car for like 5 months like this and then eventually the engine light came on.
I called the AA man who diagosed a High Pressure Fuel rail issue.

I replaced the High pressure fuel pump and the fuel rails (not cheap, but make sure you find yourself a very good independant specialist). I've done about 6000 miles since and it's been trouble free.

I see your in Preston, if you are down Leicester way (driving carefully) there is place call Lion garage who are VW/Audi specialists. Reasonably priced and very considerate.
If you do replace the Fuel pump, make sure you replace the fuel filter too.

Hope this helps and keep us posted.

Ok there can be various causes but the above by Raj is not for the 2.0 pd so dont post if its not specific to this model or engine.

Post the current fault code and lets take it from there and other forum members please don't add your links etc, lets deal with this fault for this car and not any others.

Stick with the dealer in question and raise the concern to a higher level so it dealt with by more experienced members of there dealership.

When I have a fault code I will ask some specific questions which need to be answered

You will need vcds and also a mitivac tester

I don't answer many post these days due to every man and his dog chucking random answers into the pot

Thanks a8 tech the problem we have is that the fault does not store in the system, I checked it once when the coil was still flashing and found that the fault was a low turbo pressure boost fault

I would advise there is a vacuum depletion on this circuit or the inlet manifold swirl flaps are stuck open and therefore in emergency running mode with power reduction

There is a vacuum unit on the manifold which opens the manifold tumblers, this sticks or fails

At higher engine speeds and torque, the swirl flap
is opened in order to provide better
volumetric efficiency. Intake air can now flow into
the cylinders through both intake ports. The intake
swirl required for carburetion is accomplished
through the higher flow rate at high engine speeds.

I suspect this fault occurs when loading the turbo or overtaking after a long motorway run

Also consider replacing the vacuum pipes complete as they collapse under boost but when inspected they appear ok until you load it up under boost

I shall find out what Audi have done on Monday, they have had the car for the last two weeks now and I shall give an update

Your symptoms sound similar to mine after having had a new turbo fitted to cure an overboost issue. With the new turbo and in certain situations (accelerating up a slight hill in 4th) the car would lose power and then go into limp mode. The stored fault code indicated an underboost issue.

My local indie technician diagnosed the same issue as A8 tech. The vacuum unit thingumy was replaced and all is now well :D

Good luck!

Best place to ask is surely the Audi dealer who did the work?

They are being very vague about what they have done...

Politely insist that they tell you, then :)
