View Full Version : Weird aircon issue

I've been searching the threads here and quite a few people have problems where hot/cold air only blows out of one of the vents or the temperature doesn't change when switching between low and high (ie, the aircon blows hot air). Both are usually caused by a dodgy or sticking motor.

Got a similar problem in mine which is slightly different. I get icy cold air from both the drivers side vents but only moderately cold air from the passenger side. The airflow seems a bit weaker on the passenger side too. Is this likely to be the motors as well or do I just need to get the aircon serviced and topped up?

If it's just the gas that needs topping up, I would have expected the aircon not to be ice cold from any of the vents

You've got a sticking flap motor, take the glovebox out and check the operation. If you've got icy air coming out the drivers side the systems working ok.

Thanks mate, will try to take a look this weekend and report back :fing02:

Have done a search for threads on how to remove the glovebox but can't find any :( Does the side panel also need to come off?

Open the lid there's 3 along the top, end panel off the one like the fuse panel on the other side, theres one there,2 on the bottom, and if you've got a cd unit remove it and there's one above it,

Well I couldn't seem to find those screw holes, think I need to go back in with a torch after a trip to SpecSavers

Lower the lid and there's three holes in the top the bolts are recessed in the holes.

Removed ther glovebox and can see the green and red levers moving when I change the aircon flow (and also on start/stop engine). Still feel the airflow is not as cold from the centre vents though.

The green is the screen defrost, the red is the temp for the passenger side so make sure it shuts off completely if set to cold, the centre vents is a different motor according to my diagram its V70,whats the airflow like when on full on the screen?,just to eliminate the blower.

Good idea, let me check the aircon on full on the screen.
