Pardon my ignorance..
However..why are some S lines (2.0Tdi) exhausts different..
Some are on the left rear in double..
Some are 1 either side of rear bumper..
If you get what i mean...
the ones that have the 1 exhaust either side look better..is this a spec choice..ie a better or more expensive exhaust system option..

There are 2 versions of the 2.0 TDI - 140 PS and 170. The 140 (and the 1.9) have exhausts on one side. All the rest have twin exhaust.
Unfortunately, it's not an option.

Thank you..
Seen a 2.0Tdi SE Quattro this had the split exhausts either side on an 05 plate does this mean its a 170 (ie it has to be a 170 in either S line or SE for it to have exhausts either side)

Is it not that the exhaust either side is the Quattro and the the exhaust just on one side is 2WD?? I thought the twin exit either side was because the rear diff etc on the quattro model takes up room where a std exhaust sits.

All Petrol Turbos have twin exhausts (s-line or SE)
Except Petrol 2.0 does not - any version

Ian H nailed it.........

Regardless of 2WD or Quattro, S-Line or SE - that doesn't matter - the B7 2.0TDI 140 has the pipes together, side-by-side on the rear-left. The 2.0TDI 170 has a pipe at either side.

The 170 version (plus the larger TDIs) has a diesel-particulate-filter (see link below), to reduce emmissions, and also some/most of the black soot (diesel particulates). Pretty cool - no black exhaust-pipes.

I have the 170PS 2.0 TDI Quattro and is exactly as stated above. I get no black soot :D but higher CO2 than the 2WD 2.0 170
