This appears to be a common problem with many users on here reporting problems and Cambridge Audi admitting as much when mine failed just the other day. They told me that Audi have 'gone back to the drawing board' with regard to the deisgn of the component and it is now being sourced from Japan. Not great given the recent earthquake and Cambridge Audi have qouted me a 4 week lead time!

I've done 76k now but I got the distinct impression that this was going to be covered at any mileage as it was a known component issue rather than a wear and tear item. I've been given a (eesentially) brand new A4 Avant with all the gizmos to drive around in as they did not want me to risk burning out the DPF (although I think that would be pretty unlikley). OK with me though, I'm a private owner and do 30k miles per year so have no problem putting a few thousand miles on someone elses car while I wait for the part!

Doesnt sound too good. My car is in at the moment having had similar problems. I got a new sensor within 2 days about a month ago (although i guess the UK could have run out of stock). I had another sensor last week but not sure whether it was in the DPF or not.

According to a BMW dealer I spoke to on Saturday, BMW have apparently have moved their DPF away from the engine to solve some of these problems and to get the DPF working more efficiently and allegedly have very few problems now.
