It's only about £60 for a new cover and going to trial a colour matched look...Chav or tasteful (ibis)?
Also looking to be a lab rat on developing some silicone hoses if anyone is interested in a GB?

Each to their own :)
But if you want an opinion then it's 'yep chav. But more importantly it's a waste of time and effort'

Yep a waste of time unless you plan on getting a perspex bonnet :)

Waste of time and money IMO. You're not gonna see it except for topping up fluids.

I used to have a TT and those guys would do all sorts of engine bay dressing.
Suspension covers, dip stick, bolt heads etc etc
If you do want to do something to make it look nice then stick an R8 oil cap on ;)
p.s. No I haven't but many have!

Got to say it is not something I could be bothered to ponce about with, having said that , if you like it, why not.
To be honest anybody that was not an Audi owner or enthusiast would never know that it is not not factory, it looks factory

it looks factory
Question I have is why do cars have engine covers now? Never used to ...

I knw a guy who though his had been nicked!
I had a B6 S4 and he had a later one. I had the engine cover and a cover over to the near side. He didn't have either. When we checked he didn't even have the mounting points. It had been removed from the build as we laster saw the same on similar age cars.
I've no idea why they're there and then why they removed and then re-introduced them. It does seem to be a waste of materials, expense and effort.

The cynic in me thinks it is so it prevents complete amateurs like me having a go at minor repairs and servicing- it definitely makes changing bulbs a pain in the *** with all the covers in the way, but I persevered with that one.
I don't like the cover but do like the R8 oil cap. How much was that?

Re: painting...Info for All
Forget it! After a week or so, £200 spent and the paint is starting to shrink in the heat...nothing can be done and it's going into the bin.
So, should have spent the £400 on a carbon one...where did I see this again..?

Wow ! I thought you was buying a cover for £60 and spraying with heat resistant spray. I didn't realise you had it sprayed up for you!
Even if it was perfect, £200 for a outsight bit of bling??

Slightly expensive, especially as it seems it wasnt done properly, as with the right prep and paint it will hold up just fine, even after several years of heat.

You should be able to sand it down again, have it prepped properly and make sure they use heat resistant paint this time round. I would go back to where you got this done and get them to do it again.
