When I try to start my 1998 2.8 quattro I'm getting the whiny sound I usually do, but instead of chugging into life nothing is happening.
I'm no mechanic, but the phrase "Not turning over" seems very applicable.
I've tried a new battery, which hasn't helped.
Next on my list is a gallon of petrol (It was pretty empty when I parked up, but I'm pretty certain it should have enough to at least try to start) .. That is more out of desperation than seriously thinking it will help.
Anything else I could check before blaming the starter motor?
How involved is changing the starter motor on one of these? Is it something that could be successfully done by a novice, or should I just pay someone to do it?
Or if anyone knows of a more suitable forum for this, I'd appreciate knowing =)
