Hi to all I'm new on here....

Reasonably handly with the spanners but like most when tackling a new job just would like a few pointers if possible from those who have done it before. My stepson has a 2005 (55)
A3 1.6 Fsi (he's 21 years old and in the Royal Marines currently in Afghanistan)
I noticed last week when I moved hi car a drop of coolant on the floor of the garage ..its not much but on closer examination its the radiator that's leaking. The car has been stood for a few months while he's away and I want to fix it before he comes home in September.
There is a Radiator on Ebay for £56 delivered and the red coolant I can get local....

I have changed radiators on Fords and Vauxhalls...never an Audi...I think it goes Front Bumper off...then ...hoses etc ...Is there anything I should know before I start ?
How about best way to refil and getting air out of system...

Any help I would be grateful

Remove engine cover panel
Drain off coolant
Unplug electrical connector at radiator outlet coolant temperature sender.
Disconnect coolant hose (bottom) from radiator (pull out retaining clip).
Disconnect air hose at bottom of resonator.
Remove front bumper
Disconnect hoses from air cleaner housing.
Take out air cleaner housing.
Detach air hose (going to resonator) at lock carrier.
Unscrew air duct at lock carrier
Lift retaining clip and disconnect coolant hose (top) from radiator.
Unplug electrical connector.
Unscrew bolts and remove radiator cowl.
Remove the left and right-hand air ducts from the radiator.

The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened.

Note

To prevent damage to the condenser and refrigerant pipes/hoses, ensure that the pipes and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.

Unscrew securing bolts for the condenser.
Remove bolts at radiator.
Swivel radiator slightly towards rear.
Detach radiator upwards and take it out from below.

Have you removed the front bumper?

Note:- To prevent damage to the condenser and refrigerant pipes/hoses, ensure that the pipes and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.

Unscrew securing bolts -2- for the condenser.

Remove bolts -1- at radiator.

Swivel radiator slightly towards rear.

Detach radiator upwards and take it out from below.
