Hi all,

Just bought this 55 plate Avant a month ago and got this juddering problem on the way to the Audi garage to get my coil-packs replaced. The mechanic said it looked like I got there just in time and what I described sounded like a misfiring, the emission control system light flickered at the time too but he said it didn't come up after the coil-pack job and the system didn't log any codes either.

Was fine for a few days (last time I used it was Thursday). Just took it for a quick errand and it started juddering/labouring intensively and the emissions light flickered, then it stopped for a bit. On my way back it did it even more and kept juddering. It's still juddering now and the emissions light it more or less permanently on, only flickering 'off' intermitently.

Any ideas on what it might be? I've got two 'real' options I think:

Take it to Audi and get them to diagnose it (I don't have a VAGCOM); what would they charge for just a diagnosis?
Take it to my local independant workshop (trust worthy guy) and let him figure it out?

Now there is a third option, but it's not really worth it in my opinion anyway, and that is to take to the small independant dealer I purchased it from: who probably will tell me where to get stuff and that the three month warrenty I got free with it isn't worth the paper it's written on?

Only thing is if they do have a look at it they might try and do it themselves and bodge it up! I suppose most I could do with them is tell them I'm taking it to Audi for a diagnosis and get them to pay up? However, again I think this is very unrealistic thinking of me.

What do you reckon? Is this a known fault?

I see a misfire warning there, so I assume this will have something to do with the coil-packs which were replaced?

I called Audi this morning who have said they'll do the job for free if it's to do with coil-pack job; otherwise they will charge £85 for diagnosis + parts and labour for any work done.

Given the above read out, what are the chances that they'll regard the problem as independant from the coil-pack job?

Also is it safe to drive my car to the Audi garage (15-20min drive)?

Thanks
