View Full Version : Tyres
Well had to bite the bullet and stick some new rubber on the front - Goodyear Eagle F1 antisymmetric 2's. They feel great - I always forget how much difference new tires makes. Cornering and pulling away now feel muuuuch better. Will see how we get on with wear!.Managed 13k of town driving mostly on the factory fitted bridgestones - but there sooo expensive to replace and I have always had good fun with the old F1's. Great fish tails!. Raining - time to go play!

I'd be interested how you get on with wear. The Dunlop sports on my car wear at a horrific rate and its not like they get abused.

Jeeez! I wasn't expecting to get much distance out of the factory Pirelli P7s on mine, but 7500 miles (3/4 motorway) has only scrubbed 1mm off them so far.

I have just passed the 20k marker and my Pirelli P7's are at 2.8mm and 3.8mm on the fronts (Checked by dealer last week). After two bad winters I am suitably impressed with the wear rate (and in case anyone is wondering.....I don't hang around). Apart from poor traction in snow, ice and aqua planing in the wet they aren't to bad :-)

I have the factory fitted bridgestones and I dont think I have ever seen a tyre wear so fast ! Mine have 8.5K of mostly motorway miles and they look pretty sick to be honest.

Just coming up to 18.5k on original bridgestones and I still have approx 3mm all around. I like a spirited drive from time to time so I am not Miss Daisy but your rate of wear seems high.
Mad how much difference model/driver/type of driving can all make by the looks of things. Interesting!. Will update on the wear.

There's loads of discussions on tyres at various forums, see http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/audi-s4-a4-a4-cab-b8-chassis/121857-new-tyres.html. I am glad I got rid of my P7's, (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?109021-Pirelli-P7&highlight=Pirelli+P7) but it will be interesting to see how well the Conti's wear compared to them. The wear rate was the only thing they had going for them!

I replaced the original Continentals on my A4 B08 2.0 TDi with Toyo. Very happy with the change, and would highly recommend them. Comfortable and low noise as well as great grip. I notice they are being fitted as factory fit on some Audis now.
