Hi guys,

after a bit of help. Ive only had my car 4 days and I wanting to turn the Auto Stop Start off. When I do turn it off manually, the next time I get in the car it back on!

This is already driving me mad - you stop at a red light and just as its turning the engine off, the light is going green!

No one's found a way yet. If you don't want it on then you'll have to remember each time you start the car. Remember that the emissions group is lower by just having it fitted to your car so don't hate it too much ;)

Thanks for getting back to me Scotty. Yeah, I like the idea of it but it does get annoying. I thought more people would have been as the same opinion as me.

Looks like I will just have to live with it :D

I know what you mean it can be annoying. I either a) try to remember to switch it off or b) keep my foot on the clutch when stationary. Do remember that the electronics are smart enough to know when not to engage start stop. I've had mine auto start at a junction as it decided I was using too much power. In any case it won't engage until the engine has warmed enough.

Rule of thumb is that if you reckon you will be stationary for 30s or more you will save fuel by allowing the engine to switch off. anything less than that and the act of restarting the engine uses more fuel.

You get used to it pretty quickly - we have it on both our A4 and A1 - and it is great if you stall! no more fiddling with the ignition key to fire up again. learn to love it!

What does it do when you stall? I stalled when pulling out at a junction the other day and it took me about 30 seconds to get the damn thing started up again!

just put your foot full down on the clutch and it'll restart the engine. no need to touch the key at all. really very useful!

Its a bit sad, but I get disappointed when it doesnt turn the engine off. The car starts again as soon as I press the clutch or if the car starts rolling more than 1mph.
