I noticed a couple of clutch related threads a while back, but has anyone had any recent clutch judder issues? My 2 litre TDI really struggled a week or so back in the hotter weather (after about an hours run and then crawling through traffic jams).

Audi have just had the car in for a service and simply couldn't recreate the problem even after a lengthy test drive!

My B7 A4 had a juddery clutch either on cold damp mornings or after prolonged city driving, this cleared up on its own and when I sold at nearly 60K all was ok.

Yes, those situations sound very similar. I thought there was an impending failure, although at 28k miles it did seem a bit early for a clutch problem!

Thanks.

I know it not the same engine and box but a 3.0 diesel of mine had 3 new clutches and a new duel mass flywheel to cure juddering when pulling away. Audi leeds always seemed to take my word for it and changed it without question.

I wish Ipswich audi would follow their lead... Its usually the flywheel. I had one on my early B7 and had a similar problem on an Impreza Turbo about 12 years ago.

I have never been happy with my B08 TDI in traffic due to judder. Nothing happened when I complained when it was in for servicing. 2 weeks back at 46K the car was unpredictable in starting due to it wanting the clutch pedal pushed down even when it was hard against the floor. Took it to the dealer to ask them to adjust the pedal sensor, and they cam back to say there wasn't a sensor, it actually checked the clutch was disengaged.

Car went in for a clutch change. Friction plate, thrust bearing etc were changed but not the flywheel even though they did order one). All sorted under warranty luckily as the bill would not have been insignificant!

Clutch pedal feel changed and is much lighter now. Never had clutch problems before with a car at such a low mileage.

I would make sure that your reports are logged by the dealer as a minimum to avoid problems later on if they are not willing to actively look at the problem.

I went out with a Master tech the other day to check my running issues. Luckily when I let him drive the whole car juddered when he released the clutch....

To be fair I wished Ipswich Audi would just close. Would save being treated like an alien even though I own an A4 and an A1. Bury St Edmunds Audi rules.

They are both owned by the same local "group"?

Yes, they are and thats unfortunate bit, but they do actually treat you as a customer rather than an inconvenience. Interesting that when you talk about Ipswich Audi, how many people will tell you that they experienced the same issues I.e. Staff would rather chat than deal with you, ignore you blah blah. I thought I was just getting "special" service.
