This is my first post since taking ownership of a lovely A4 Black Edition in white. The car is a real beauty and drives excellently. I have spoiled myself and got the full Nav Pack/MMI etc and am really pleased with it.
But...... I have noticed a vibrating sound which appears when the revs go between 1500-1700 RPM (any gear). Before I speak to a dealer I thought I would enquire if this has been noticed by any other owners
Thanks for feedback

Probably worth mentioning what engine/gearbox you've got ...

When you get the sound, put your hand on the gearstick to feel if the vibration matches the sound. If not try your hand elsewhere. I really doubt it's a gearbox problem. More like a wire/cable/hose resting against the bodywork somewhere.
Either way, you've parted with your cash. Time to speak to the dealer, sooner rather than later.

It is a 2.0 Diesel (136PS) with a manual box

It wont help but I have the same engine and the same problem! I think its coming from around the B post , Its annoying but so far (apart from the stop start having a mind of its own) its the only fault but I'm only 2 weeks and 1500 miles in.

Thanks for the feedback..... yes you are right, it wont help...lol. Anyway at least I know I am not alone in the world of squeaking new Black Editions. As per one of the earlier posts I think it is time to call the dealer and get it looked at as it will drive me mad over the next few years.

Did you have any joy with the dealer? I've now done 2k and it is still there so I guess I should get it fixed , what did they say??

Hiya, the car is going in to the dealer tomorrow so i will let you know what they say. I have now done 2500 miles and i have to say the noise is getting worse so it needs sorting out. I just hope they dont try to fob me off by saying it is a "feature" of the car.

Hiya, the car went in last week and they said the "clutch damper valve was vibrating against plenum base panel". It has made a difference as the noise was quite constant between 1500-1800 RPM, however there is still a noise there which is only present at 1500RPM. I will get it back to the dealer as it does need sorting fully but it is much better than it was..

Thanks Steve , I'll book mine in and will be able to give them a specific fault , much better than a couple of the intermittent issues I also have . (load cover keeps lifting up when I go over potholes etc etc ) Ta
