Hello Folks

Im on looking for a bit of advice I ve just sold the wifes GTTDI Golf ( thankfully she did know about it) and she now wants an A3 5 door I was originally looking at the 1,9 tdi sportback but then I saw a few 2 litre tdi 140 se. I already have the A4 140 (not far off his and hers ) and was wondering what is the one to go for I take it the engine in the 2 litres are the same as will the majority of the other bits. Does the 1.9 feel a little under powered and is there any issues with that engine. Is there any other things I should know about the A3 it ll be a 2007 onwards, how far onwards will depend on the lovely bank people:D.

Any advice would be most welcome and appriciated

Cheers

I have a 2005 1.9 and I think it' a reliable engine to be honest. I've not read of any problems with them on these forums. In regards to being underpowered...it really depends on what you describe as underpowered. It is obviously not as powerful as the 2 litre, but it's still got good acceleration, with the help of the turbo, in my opinion. I would recommend you test drive the 2 cars to get an idea for yourself.

In regards to what to look out for...take a look at these 2 threads:
