I'm waiting for a call back from Audi to give me a price for replacing the indicator bulb in my wingmirror.
I know it's not going to be cheap :zx11:
Does anyone know if this replacement is possible without going to Audi. If so any guidance would be much appreciated.

Cheers
in advance :Blush2:

Got the call back from Audi
£27 for the part, which is not a bulb but a sealed unit; not too bad!
£70 labour to have it fitted; HOLY 5H1T :aargh4:

I recently had to dismantle my passenger side mirror, it's fairly straight forward and once apart it's just a case of unclipping a connector and sliding out the indicator unit from the housing. (indicator is a sealed unit, running just one LED).

Cheers blacksurge

May I ask why you had to dismantle your wingmirror?

Any tips on where to start, e.g. removing the mirror to get inside.
Any tips would be much appreciated as I think I'm going to have a go at this one myself.

P.S. If it makes any difference my mirrors have the full works, i.e. folding, heated, auto dimming etc.

Have PM'd you re. how to.

I had to dismantle mine as the housing unclipped itself whilst I was driving, after removing it I realised that the plastic lugs were out of alignment and also two screws were missing, so somebody has been in there before for some reason and not done too good a job.

Have a look here http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/audi-s4-a4-a4-cab-b8-chassis/116112-wing-mirror.html. I bough the part but haven't fitted it yet.

Cheers for that Crazyfool

Very detailed pix give me a bit more confidence to give it a go.
I'd be interested to see how you get on; when you get round to it.

Good luck :beerchug:

When a lorry knocked my mirror off so it was dangling, audi charged me over 300 for a whole new unit and fitting, although don't know if they were taking the pee as they knew the lorry company had agreed liability and said they would pay

Sorry to hear about your situation; afraid I can't offer any advice other than have a look at this link http://www.audienthusiasts.com/Project_FoldingMirrors2.html.

I had a hairline crack in the top (coloured) part of the mirror housing and the integral indicator unit eventually failed. To get the dealer to replace the cracked housing with a new one (which they painted also) and a new indicator unit was just shy of £200 . With that in mind I would imagine your dealer might charge quite a bit more should you chose that path.
