Hi,

I've just had a new clutch kit installed on my Audi A4 (1.9Tdi 130 B6). At 170K it was starting to slip, so it's done pretty well.

They said the flywheel looked good and just changed the clutch.

Anyway the pedal is now much MUCH lighter. It's like driving my Mrs city car now. Is this totally normal?

Yes it is, still should have changed that dmf.

Regards
Jim

Thanks for the reply Jim.

They inspected the dmf and said there didn't seem to be any play and it looked good, but gave me the choice to replace both and said the dmf would nearly double the price (I paid £335 all in for the clutch kit installed -£150 for the cost of the kit). Hopefully it won't prove false economy and the dmf won't go anytime soon.

I expected the clutch pedal to feel a little different, but was really surprised how much lighter it is to push down now. Just like driving a modern little city car, rather than a big diesel.

We had a clutch change on our work van and that was the same, new clutch was a lot lighter. I second the DMF change though, should of been changed whilst they were in there.

Had my clutch changed including DMF,and the pedal is a lot lighter now,Its because the fingers on the cover plate are more flexible, perfectly normal, just out of interest, does your clutch judder when reversing uphill at a slow speed ?
