Hi,

I was driving the car when there was sudden loss of power and engine management light came on, I took it to the local VW garage who told me the turbo has gone and it would cost £1600 to replace it!!:zx11:

I have taken the car to my local garage (lower labour charges) but they are struggling to get the correct part number for the turbo. I've taken a look at vagcat but the picture and codes are somewhat confusing.

Does anybody know the correct part number for this model of passat, or an easier way of getting the part number rather than using vagcat? :1zhelp:

Cheers

Can't help you with the part numbers, but have you tried asking for goodwill from VW to contribute some or all of the cost of the repair?

Hi,

We recently repalced the turbo on wifes Seat Altea 2.0 TDi for about £450 inc fitting - we manged to get a recon one off ebay:

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/global-auto-parts-birmingham?_trksid=p4340.l2563

Came with 12 month warranty - you can always e-mail them your car details and they will check which one you need.

Get it rebuilt buy a turbo specialist, the complete job should cost you around £900 including labour.

Assuming it's a BMR engine: VAG part No. 03G 253 010 A (or AX) made by Garrett.

Just out of interest, is the turbo different on all the 2.0l range? In other words is it the main difference in BHP from 110, 140 and 170 engines or is there other different parts?
