Thats extremely expensive!

I paid £380 for OEM parts from Euro Car Parts (trade discount), including the LUK clutch and dual mass flywheel and normally labour would have been £150-200. However since i did most the work at the garage myself, I paid £100 labour.

Thanks for your reply mate.they recon it's 620£ to do the clutch and they will only charge me the cost of the dmf which they say it's another 600£.is that the real price of a dmf??.I'm thinkin' of puttin my boxing gloves on and pay them a visit tommorow.

The clutch does seem a little expensive even for a specialist independant. If you have the service history up to date with the dealer then audi will do it for £649 fixed price (http://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/servicing-with-audi/affordable-servicing.html)

I take my words back.Spoke to the parts department at my local Audi dealer and they confirmed a price of 599.89£ for the dmf.so how do you guys buy them for like 400£ both clutch and dmf kit?.I can understand a diffrence of say 50£ between those bought from erocarparts and those bought from Audi direct but not hundreds of pounds. Are the ones you get from places such as eurocsrparts the same as the ones you buy from the main dealer 'cause the difference in price is huge??

Can you get me one!!! I was quoted £1k by Audi managed to get that down to £800 from TPS. That is just parts. Local indie wanted £150 for labour. If that is the case how can I get trade discount? I've needed a new clutch and DMF for about a year (not through wear) and have put it off. Can my local indoe get the parts for me??

Hi,

Please do not pay through the nose for your parts! Even your local indie will add a nice hefty amount onto the price of the parts for his own pocket. Unless you know a indie who is friendly and will be happy to order for you, at COST price then don't bother!

Look at the below scanned picture of my invoice. See where it says LIST PRICE and UNIT PRICE? Check out the difference!

Thanks for the efort keemaklan.i now have another quiery.the garage advised me to get the front suspension bushes changed last year and it was also spotted at the last m.o.t 2 months ago.since they had the car yesterday i've asked them to get them replaced aswell.they have come back to me saying that they have to replace the top link arms as they can't do just the bushes.is that true???and all that at a cost of 540£.the car has 70.0000 miles and has been very well loked after.to me it just sounds like they are replacing parts on the car that don't need doing.i remeber the m.o.t guy showed me the bushes and they wore made of rubber so how can it cost 540 pounds to replace and why do they have to replace the top link arms??any info would be apreciated as my mechanical knowledge is limited but i know when someone is trying to bul.... me.

Anyone know if the bushes can be replaced without havin' to change the top link arms aswell???.The garage is sayin' that this is the only way to do it as it all comes in one piece. Thanks in advance.

Neither ECP nor the indie you're using to obtain cost parts will be happy about you displaying that invoice - we know it happens, but ECP charge retail, to retail customers - trade, to trade customers.

It's how it works - they'd not be in the business if they provided everything at trade cost!
