I have had my TDIi 4-Motion Passat Estate for three years and it is without doubt the best "normal" car I've had, sadly due to it not being Euro4 compliant and the tax laws that nice Mr Brown introduced it looks like I'll have to sell her, my problem is how much is it worth ?

The TDi version it would seem is rarer then I thought, with none in Autotrader and the one on eBay bided up to silly money and didn't make reserve, anyone know where I can get a genuine feel for what my car is worth ?

It really down to what you want for it and having a buyer. Being a TDI will make it popular, something sporter with a TDI allways sell well.

How many miles etc?

The truth is I don't want to sell it, the harsh reality of the tax levied on it (as a company car) means I have to, the more I can get for it the better as the more I have to spend on it's replacement.

53, 114k miles, FSH, Sport, with factory tints

Hello,
I bought my (non 4-motion) 53 reg 130 sport estate in december for £6500, its probably worth about £6000 now. Its got similar mileage to yours.

Whatcar have a free valuation section on their website which seems to be fairly realistic from what I have seen. It gives the following details for your car

Dealer £6,990
Private £6,390
Part exchange £5,110
Trade £4,685
Cost new £21,310

Those figures are for an 04 reg car, as it doesn't have a listing for a 53 reg in your configuration.
Cheers, Matt.

Mine is rare, even the sales droid at the local VW dealers could not find it in his book !

The Passat looks really nice. Gd luck with the sale. Wish I hadn't blown so much on a new house :-( Would love it.

Whats the 4x4 like? Does it understeer? Or is more power to the rear?

It is a stunning machine, the best "normal" car I have had, and I've had a lot of cars, the only reason I am selling her is because of the new company car tax rules.

No under or over steer, it corners as if it was on rails, recently drove a FWD Passat Sport, the amount of understeer was scary (and it was fitted with brand new Goodyear F1 tyres)

I forgot to mention in the above post, she also has a 6-speed manual gearbox.

When you say the new company car tax regulations. How much does this cost to tax for the road as a private car?

What sort of MPG can you acheive under normal driving?

I have no idea ! Because it does not comply with Euro4 emissions it's the company car tax, payment in kind that I am being shafted on.

I have done 100,000 mostly motorway miles, the average is about 45mpg, at "normal" motorway speeds, I did 100 miles at 52mph and managed to get 55mpg.
