Can anyone help.
Ive got a 56 audi a3 2.0 tdi.
When I start it up after it's been sat overnight im getting a bit if blue smoke which soon disappears but I'm still lost to why this is happening.
My main worry is that when I rev my car I'm getting little black clouds of smoke, these are constant everytime I rev. Any ideas what this is or how to fix it?
Thanks
Pete
Blue smoke is down to the fact the engine is burning excess oil!
Usual suspects,
Worn cylinders or piston rings
Faulty valves or valve stem seals
Engine over full with engine oil
Faulty injector pump/lift pump allowing engine oil to be mixed with the diesel
Topped it up too much recently?
Black smoke could be something as simple as a new air filter.
Usual suspects,
Faulty injectors (injectors need attention at about 100.000 to 120 000 miles)
Faulty injector pump
Turbocharger or intercooler faulty
Problems within cylinder head, valves clogged up due to faulty EGR (exhaust gas recycling unit)
Hope that helps
Forgot to add your most likely going to get a small build up of oil if your car has been sitting for a little while so nothing to worry about. Only if it's constant or more than usual I'd be investigating! And black smoke comes with owning a derv (if your worried, air filter would be the first place to check)

No problem, like I said unless there is excess smoke I wouldn't worry. I know that list of problems looks a little bit scary but 99% of the time it's nothing major atall!
